Emirates starts Adelaide service

02 Nov 2012

(MENAFN) Emirates Airline’s Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Far East & Australasia, Salem Obaidalla, announced that the carrier launched its commercial service to Australia’s Adelaide, reported Arabian Business.

The first non-stop commercial service from the Middle East to South Australia will be operated via a Boeing 777-300ER plane, with four weekly flights.

However, on the first day of February 2013, the EK440 flight will be increased to daily services.

Over 200,000 passengers will be carried each year between South Australia and Dubai due to the launch of the service, with the UK and Europe forecasted to be the strongest markets for both inbound and outbound travel.

The launch of the daily service will add 5,000 international seats a week on the route, representing a 30-percent rise for the market, increasing jobs and investment in South Australia’s tourism sector and adding 14 tons of commercial cargo space on each flight.
