Emirates to acquire 100 777s, if Boeing upgrades the model

09 Nov 2012

(MENAFN) Emirates’ chief, Tim Clark, stated that if Boeing upgrades the design of its wide-body 777, the UAE carrier will likely order 100 aircraft or more of the model, reported Emirates 24/7.

Clark said that Emirates has already ordered 175 Boeing 777s, adding that if the US plane manufacturer upgraded the aircraft with a newer model, then the airline will order more.

He added that in 2011, Emirates, which has the world’s largest fleet of Boeing 777s, ordered 50 long-range Boeing 777-300 ER planes worth a combined USD18 billion at the Dubai Airshow.

It is worth noting that based on current list prices, an order for 100 Boeing aircraft would be worth over USD36 billion.
