Etihad Airways adds Shanghai to its global network

(MENAFN) Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi’s flag carrier launched a new flight service to Shanghai starting from April 15, Arabian Business reported.

The carrier said it will debut services with five weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Shanghai, operated by Airbus A330-300. The flights will increase to a daily schedule from April 15.

CEO James Hogan said the new Shanghai route brings the capital of the UAE and the commercial and financial centre of mainland China closer together and creates new opportunities for government, trade, tourism and cultural exchange.

In December, Etihad signed it’s a codeshare agreement with China’s Hainan Airlines. The deal will place its “HU” code on Etihad Airways flights between Abu Dhabi and the airline’s three gateway cities in Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai.
