(MENAFN) Samsung cut deals with UAE’s Etisalat and du to offer the Galaxy SIII at a discounted rate than the retail price of USD680, reported The National.
Samsung said that an unspecified company will offer the Galaxy SIII for free under a business model flourishing the Arab Gulf and the other unspecified company will offer the phone at full retail price with truly unlimited data plan.
In most Western countries, 95 percent of phones are sold through telecommunications operators, whereas in the Gulf only 10-15 percent of cell phones sales are carried out by the providers instead of electronics stores.
The Galaxy S III was launched in the UAE at the end of May and it has already sold out. However, Samsung said it made sure both Etisalat and du have enough phones for the deals they will begin to offer immediately. The Samsung phone is set to be the iPhone 5’s biggest threat in the third quarter.
