Expert asks MENA, EU to invest in green energy

31 May 2012

(MENAFN) At the 2012 Mediterranean Oil and Gas Conference in Athens, a leading energy expert urged Middle Eastern countries and the EU to consider investing and increasing investments in the green energy sector, reported the Daily Star.

Roudi Baroudi, a key speaker at the conference told participants that around 70 percent of Europe’s petroleum consumption and just over 30 percent of the world’s consumption passes through the Mediterranean. Baroudi claimed that with time, the hazards and the risks that come with this will increase.

He argued that there are many alternative energy options out there that will make the energy sector more secure and affordable.

He continued by saying: “There are too many advantages to be secured by working together and too many risks to be run by failing to do so.”
