(MENAFN) Saudi Ma’aden and Alcoa have awarded engineering and construction firm Fluor Corp a contract to provide engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services for their automotive sheet facility at Ras Al-Khair in Saudi Arabia, Flour said in a press release.
The new facility is part of the Ma’aden-Alcoa aluminum complex that is currently under development in Saudi Arabia.
The plant will have the capability to produce a range of products suitable for further downstream manufacturing in the aluminum complex.
These products include automotive heat-treated and non-heat-treated sheet, building and construction sheet and foil stock sheet.
Fluor added that it booked USD337 million into backlog in the second quarter of 2012.
Fluor will be responsible for designing, constructing and commissioning the plant, which will produce lightweight aluminum to be used in vehicle manufacturing once completed.
