Foreigners’ investments in Egyptian treasury bills grow by EGP43.5bn

(MENAFN) Foreigners’ investments in treasury bills by the Egyptian government increased by EGP43.5bn in May this year compared to EGP92.624bn in April this year.

Accordingly, the government bank’s balances of treasury bills in the cited month grew by EGP16bn recording EGP279.2bn.

On the other hand, private banks’ investments in treasury bills declined by EGP20.3bn to reach EGP219.8bn and specialized banks’ balances also fell by EGP2bn.

The CBE also exposed a jump in regional public debt of EGP73bn amid Q3 of 2016/2017, reaching EGP3.073tr at the end of March this year.
