(MENAFN) Governments of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries spent around USD112 billion on infrastructure projects last year, Times of Oman reported.
The amount spent last year comprised 7.1 percent of the total gross domestic product in the GCC, going up from 4.2 percent in 2004.
The spending on infrastructure projects is expected to rise even more as big rail projects such as the metros in Doha, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh.
