(MENAFN) The GCC region is set to a sum of USD210 billion in construction projects, mostly for preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar and the World Expo 2020 in Dubai, according to Qatari minister of energy and industry, Gulf Times reported.
The sum also includes USD120 billion for transportation construction such as roads and bridges. The construction activities would boost the share of markets to 52.8 percent of the global output in 2015, according to the minister.
“The massive infrastructure development planned for the legacy sporting event of the 2022 FIFA World Cup is expected to position the State of Qatar as the powerhouse that will drive the growth of the region’s cement industry,” he added.
