(MENAFN) Qatar’s Gulf International Services has acquired its eighth jack-up drilling rig by its drilling joint venture, Gulf Drilling International, The Peninsula Qatar reported.
GDI’s Chief Executive Officer said: “We are pleased to be receiving the first of two new rigs expected this year. The rig will undergo upgrade work in a shipyard as part of its mobilization to incorporate client requested equipment and features.”
The company signed a five-year contract for the rig at a total value of USD235 million. GDI is expecting many years of quality service to its clients with this rig.
