(MENAFN) GE Aviation, a unit of General Electric Co, won a supply deal from the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) to deliver F110-GE-129D engines to power its 12 new Lockheed Martin advanced F-16 aircraft, Arabian Business reported.
GE Aviation, an operating unit of GE, is a provider of jet and turboprop engines, components and integrated systems for commercial, military, business and general aviation aircraft.
Engine deliveries are scheduled to begin next year, GE Aviation said in a statement.
Joe Guenther, general manager of GE Aviation’s F110 programme said the F110-GE-129D engine configuration is designed for lowest possible cost of ownership and unsurpassed single-engine safety.
The F110 engines proved to be the best selling engine for Lockheed Martin F-16C/D fighter, as over 3,000 have been ordered worldwide since initial selection by the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1984.
