(MENAFN) Bombardier Transportation’s chief country representative for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Mohammed Sarfraaz Ali, announced that the German affiliate of Canada’s Bombardier won a USD107 million Dubai contract, reported Arabian Business.
Ali said that the contract covers the design and construction of a 1.5km elevated automated people mover (APM) system for Dubai International Airport that would link the existing Terminal 1 to the new Concourse 4.
The company would supply all of the APM system-wide electrical and mechanical elements, with work expected to finish in 24 months.
Moreover, it would supply 18 INNOVIA APM 300 cars with communications-based train control (CBTC) technology for driverless operation.
It is worth noting that Dubai International Airport, which plans to increase capacity to 90 million passengers a year by 2018 from 60 million at the current time, is the world’s fourth busiest airport for international passenger traffic.
