(MENAFN) Hilton Worldwide’s president for global operations, Ian Carter, said that the firm was in talks with UAE’s Al Habtoor Group to construct additional hotels in Dubai, reported Gulf News.
Carter added that recently, Al Habtoor inked management deals with Hilton to develop the 324-room Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah, due to open at the end of next year, and to change 2 of its hotels in Beirut to the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand.
He also said that this year, Al Habtoor said that it would demolish the
Metropolitan, one of Dubai’s oldest hotels, to redevelop the area as a tourism complex under a USD1.3 billion plan, and Hilton was in talks with the Emirati firm for elements of that project as it’s a huge one.
It is worth noting that Hilton is looking at several other opportunities in Dubai, with its Conrad on Shaikh Zayed Road due to open in 2012’s third quarter.
