IHG to open a second Crowne Plaza in UAE’s RAK

(MENAFN) InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) unveiled plans to construct a 442-room Crowne Plaza resort in Ras Al Khaimah, North of the UAE, Arabian Business reported.

A contract was signed with Kuwaiti developer Almadina Real Estate Development for the project, which is currently under development on the manmade Marjan Island, IHG said in a statement.

The resort will become the second IHG managed hotel in Ras Al Khamiah when it opens, with an InterContinental due to open in 2014.

The Crowne Plaza Resort Ras Al Khaimah, slated for opening in 2015, will span more than 18,000 sq m and host nine food and beverage outlets.

The resort will also feature an all-day dining restaurant with show kitchen, an alfresco dining terrace, a cigar lounge, two coffee shops, a pool bar, and traditional bar and nightclub.

Six meeting rooms, a spa, fitness centre and beauty salon, as well as nursery and indoor souk will be included in the resort, IHG added.

There are 64 Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts in more than 60 countries around the world, including five in the UAE. An additional 18 Crowne Plaza hotels are in the global development pipeline, IHG said.
