Inflation in Egypt to average 22.3pct this year

(MENAFN) Focus Economics participants predict that inflation in Egypt will average 22.3 percent this year, up 2.1 percent from last month’s prediction and 13.9 percent in 2018.

Furthermore, annual average inflation grew from 15.3 percent in Dec to 17.1 percent in Jan, reaching the highest number in more than 7 years.

Additionally, the government attempts to reignite its economy and enhance its external position, while easing tensions amid frustrated Egyptians.

Recently, the nation’s cabinet confirmed the 2017/18 budget, while the draft envisages a drop in the fiscal deficit to 9.1 percent of GDP.
