(MENAFN) The new Iranian Oil Minister, Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, said that his country is still bound by its deal to export natural gas to Iraq despite it being signed by the former administration, Tehran Times reported.
The two countries signed a deal in July by which Iran is to pump 25 million cubic meters of natural gas per day to Al-Baghdad, Sadr and Al-Mansouriyah power plants in Iraq. The gas export to Iraq is expected to earn Iran USD3.7 billion per year.
Construction of the pipeline to transfer the gas has already begun on both sides. The USD342 million, 227-kilometer long pipeline in Iran is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
