(MENAFN) Iraq’s current southern oil output and export levels have remained steady despite the political unrest which is happening in the country, with an average of three million barrels per day (bpd) of production, Gulf Daily News reported.
Both the government of Iraq and the semi-independent region of Kurdistan, which last week signed a deal to ease tensions over Kurdish oil exports and civil service payments from Baghdad, said that this new agreement will help double Iraqi oil output.
Under the agreement, Iraqi Kurdistan will give 150,000 bpd of its oil exports, which is equal to around half its overall shipments, to the federal budget.
