Iraq plans a new airport

(MENAFN) Iraq intends to build a new airport as it its fleet expansion is still ongoing; an attempt to restore the county’s tourism and travel industry, Times of Oman reported.

Director general of Iraq’s civil aviation authority, Nasser Hussein, said that several contractors will be asked to bid for the construction of the airport.

The USD2.5 billion airport to be built in Karbala will be the biggest in the country and will have the operational capacity of 20 million passengers per year.
