(MENAFN) Italy’s Alenia Aermacchi stated that it has been awarded a USD221-million supply contract to provide components, systems and services to Oman’s Eurofighter planes, reported Arabian Business.

The company, a unit of Finmeccanica, noted that the contract was inked with Eurofighter regarding the 12 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft ordered by the Sultanate in December.

The contract also covers an initial 5-year logistics support package ordered by the country’s Royal Air Force.

Production of the components will begin next year, while the first complete aircraft will be handed over to the Royal Air Force of Oman in 2017.
