Jordan signs agreement to build coal-fuelled power plant

(MENAFN) Jordan signed a deal in order to build its first coal-fuelled power plant, adding that almost 70 percent of electricity is generated by coal.

Accordingly, the plant will run on coal and petroleum coke, which will be located in Qatraneh, in the south of Jordan.

Additionally, the plant will be built to the highest standards in order to preserve the environment.

Moreover, the project is part of the kingdom’s plan, under which 5 percent of power will be produced by coal by 2025.
