Jordan’s profits from remittances, tourism grow by 8.5pct

(MENAFN) Whole income from tourism and remittances by Jordanian expatriates grew by 8.5 percent in Jan, reaching USD664mn compared to USD612mn amid Jan, 2016.

Accordingly, the initial data indicated a 4.2 percent overall increase in Jordanian expatriates’ remittances amid the cited month, reaching USD269mn compared with USD284mn in 2016.

Additionally, revenues from tourism in Jan this year posted a 12.2 increase, reaching USD386mn, compared with USD328mn in Jan 2016.

The Central Bank of Jordan announced that the increase in tourism income is attributed to an 8.7 percent increase in overnight tourists, reaching 339.200 tourists in Jan, 2017.
