(MENAFN) Kuwait has confirmed an USD100mn grant for Iraq to help humanitarian and reconstruction projects in areas retaken from Islamic State militants.
Additionally, the grant is the first Kuwaiti fiscal assistance to Iraq since Baghdad’s occupation of the emirate from 1990 to 1991.
Accordingly, the grant deal inked is an encouraging start for more collaboration between both nations, as proclaimed the reconstruction fund chief.
Meanwhile, the fund plans to rebuild cities and territories recaptured from Islamic State, the ultra-hardline jihadist group which declared a caliphate over parts of Iraq and Syria in 2014.
