Kuwait cuts completion time for KIA’s terminal to 2020

19 Mar 2017

(MENAFN) Kuwait’s government had announced in February the cut in completion time of new terminal at Kuwait International Airport (KIA) from six years to four, moving the deadline forward to 2020.

Director General for aviation safety and air transportation affairs said the airport had handled 11 million passengers in 2015, and was expected to rise to 12 million in 2016.

According to Turkey’s Limak, which was awarded a KD1.31b contract to build the project in May 2016, it said that the new international terminal will handle 25 million passengers a year.

By 2020, major hotel brands will add roughly 1000 new keys to the market in the private sector.
