Kuwait to deposit USD2 b in Egypt central bank

(MENAFN) The governor of the Egyptian central bank said that Kuwait is to deposit USD2 billion in the country’s central bank next week, Arabian Business reported.

Kuwait vowed to provide Egypt with USD4 billion in aid in July. The USD4 billion will be divided into USD2 billion deposit in the central bank of Egypt, a USD1 billion in oil products and USD1 billion grant.

Both Saudi Arabia and the UAE vowed a similar USD4 billion each to Egypt. The aid from the three Gulf nations is expected to help Egypt balance payments and overcome fuel shortages.
