(MENAFN) Lebanon’s industrial exports declined due to the high cost of transportation, fierce competition and the economic slowdown in some Arab countries.
Accordingly, industrial exports in the Jan-August period of this year dropped to USD1.713bn, a 14.7pct fall from the same period of 2015.
However, Lebanese industrialists can’t compete with nations that subsidize their industries and offer them with easy access to other markets in the region.
In addition, the industrial imports to the country amid the cited period of the current year also fell by 4.9pct to USD166.9mn.
