(MENAFN) The International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) director general, Tony Tyler, stated that traffic growth for carriers in the Middle East jumped 13.3 percent in September from a year ago, reported Gulf Daily News.
On a global basis, demand for passenger traffic went up 4.1 percent from last year’s same period.
He said that demand for air cargo rose slightly at 0.6 percent, adding that the growth trend in air travel began to flatten in the second quarter, with no growth in passenger market recorded between April and August.
However, he noted that airlines in China, Latin America and the Middle East are expanding strongly, whereas carriers in Europe are posting no profits.
