ME carriers record 10.5% rise in March cargo volumes: IATA

(MENAFN) The International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) director general and CEO, Tony Tyler, announced that carriers in the Middle East posted a growth of 10.5 percent in cargo volumes in March, reported Arabian Business.

Tyler added that the remarkable performance was accompanied with an increase of 9.1 percent in capacity.

He added that year-to-date, the region’s airlines have grown by 12.4 percent faster from 2012’s same period.

In the mean time, in February, the region’s carriers posted a growth of 12.3 percent from a year earlier.

It is worth noting that in March, Global Freight Ton Kilometers (FTKs) declined by 2.3 percent from the same period a year before.
