(MENAFN) Middle East airlines will need 2.526 new planes in the coming two decades until 2036, driven by a 5.9 percent passenger increase and growing connections with main destinations.

Meanwhile, this will take the whole number of aircraft in the Mideast region to 3.186 planes by the cited year, from 1.178 aircraft at the start of this year.

Furthermore, the annual average economic growth in the region is estimated at 3.4 percent for the next two decades.

In Dubai, 46 percent of passenger traffic is origin and destination traffic, with a 17 percent accounting for intra-regional connecting passengers.
