(MENAFN) Morocco plans to double its exports of agricultural products to the Gulf region this year as the country aims to spread its market away from main trading partner the EU.
Moreover, farming accounts for almost 16 percent of Morocco’s economy, while Europe had long been the major partner due to its geographical proximity and historical ties.
Additionally, the country’s farm trade amounted to USD4.6bn in 2015 and most of it was done with EU nations.
Recently, Morocco was focusing on the UAE, which is a big consumer of vegetable and fruit products and Saudi Arabia.
