Morocco’s arrivals record increase in Q1 by 7.9%

(MENAFN) Moroccan Tourism Observatory reported that around 2.1 million visitors came to Morocco in Q1 of 2017, posting 7.9% increase comparing to previous year.

In details, the report showed increase in Asian tourists visiting the country, and Chinese, S. Korean and Japanese visitors registered increase in numbers by 784%, 63% and 62% respectively.

In 2016, a total of 10.3 million visitors came to Morocco recording a growth in tourists numbers by 1.5% compared to preceding year.

However, tourism sector represents one of the main economic drivers in Morocco as it employs over 500,000 people, around 5% of the total jobs around the country.
