Morocco’s trade deficit reaches USD6.45b in May

16 Jun 2015

(MENAFN) Morocco’s trade deficit decreased down to USD6.45 billion in the first five months of the year, marking 25.3 percent decline when compared to the same period last year, Reuters reported.

The decline is attributed to lower energy prices, according to the country’s foreign exchange regulator, who added that in the corresponding period last year the deficit was USD8.6 billion.

In addition, wheat importations decreased by 31.1 percent in the period due to record growth registered in the country’s agriculture sector.
