(MENAFN) Muscat International Airport reported a 17 percent increase in passenger traffic year-on-year during the first 11 months of 2012, Oman News Agency reported.
The figures showed that 6.898 million passed through the airport in the January-November period, up from 5.901 million a year earlier.
Both arrivals and departures increased by 17 percent, latest figures showed.
This was driven by the addition of new airlines such as the Ethiopian Airline, the Bangladesh Airlines and IndiGo Airline.
Also Oman Air, Qatar Airways, flydubai, Sri Lankan Airlines and Turkish Airlines have contributed to the traffic to the airport.
The airport also registered a 15 percent increase in cargo traffic to a total of 103,155 tonnes in the January-November period, compared to 89,825 tonnes in the same period in 2011.
