(MENAFN) Oman’s Public Authority for Civil Aviation’s (PACA) Air Transport Department stated that in the January-February period, passenger numbers at Muscat International Airport rose by 10 percent, exceeding 1.3 million, reported Arabian Business.
The department added that the figure is compared with nearly 1.2 million in the first two months of last year.
It attributed the rise to higher number of flights by some carriers operating into the airport, including Oman Air, Biman Bangladesh Air and Turkish Airlines.
It said that the number of arrivals reached 683,906, whereas the number of departures climbed by 13 percent to 635,442.
It is worth noting that total passenger traffic at the Sultanate’s second airport, Salalah Airport, rose by 6 percent to 107,366 passengers, from 100,897 in 2012’s first 2 months.
