Natural gas production, imports in Oman fall in Jan

(MENAFN) Oman’s natural gas production and imports fell by 4.5 percent to 3.424mn cubic meters (MNCM) in Jan this year, compared to 3.584 MNCM in the same period of 2016.

However, non-associated gas and imports declined by 3.7 percent to 2.859 MNCM, whereas associated gas production fell by 8 percent to 565 MNCM.

Meanwhile, a sizeable portion of natural gas in the Sultanate is used by many mega-industrial projects, while in Jan this year, it reached 2.183 MNCM.

In Jan this year, as much as 693 MNCM of natural gas was utilized in oil fields, against 816 MNCM units consumed amid the same period of 2016.
