(MENAFN) Emirates Regional Vice President for East Africa, Khalid Bel Jaflah, announced that the carrier has started its flights from Kenya’s Nairobi to Washington DC, reported Xinhua News.
Bel Jaflah said that the daily flight will be operated via a Boeing 777-200 LR aircraft, and would land in the city’s Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), which receives more than 7 million international passengers per year.
The service will be Emirates’ seventh gateway in the US, and is expected to boost ties between the US and Kenya, mainly trade relations, as the African country is the US 102nd largest goods trading partner, with trade between the two countries valued at USD674 million.
It is worth noting that the new service is Emirates’12th new route that was added to its international network this year, raising the carrier’s destinations to 126 in 74 countries.
