(MENAFN) Qatar Airways’ CEO, Akbar al-Baker, announced that at the current time, the carrier has no plans to set up a budget airline; however, it keeps options open on all future plans, reported AP.
Al-Baker said that the fast-growing carrier, which received its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner last week, is focusing on expanding its global network.
He noted that Qatar Airways doesn’t plan to launch a budget carrier to compete with Dubai’s government-backed flydubai, which serves over 50 destinations currently.
It is worth noting that the Qatari airline competes with other Gulf rivals, including Emirates and Etihad Airways.
