(MENAFN) Business Monitor International (BMI) said that in 2012, the number of tourists that would arrive to the UAE would be forecasted to reach around 9 million, reported Arab News.
The international industry consultant added that the number would record an increase of 9 percent over 2011’s 8.2 million visitors.
It also said that due to unrest mainly in Egypt and North Africa, the UAE experienced an influx of tourism, with the number of visitors at Dubai hotels growing 10 percent year-on-year to around 4.6 million for 2011’s first 6 months.
It is worth noting that Dubai was the only tourist destination in the region that has recorded a growth in both occupancy and revenue per available room (RevPAR) in 2011, with hikes of 4 percent and 4.5 percent respectively.
