(MENAFN) Oman with its huge reserves of basalt rock has great chance to develop into a global hub for the production of basalt fiber, which is described by experts as the Green Industrial Material of the 21st Century.
Basically, the Basalt fiber has great potential application because of its excellent properties, inexpensive price, abundant raw materials, and last but not least its non-polluting and non-toxic characteristics.
Furthermore, basalt fibers are perfectly suited for demanding applications that need and require high temperatures, chemical resistance, durability, mechanical strength and low water absorption.
Moreover, the Sultanate is home to limitless quantities of basalt rock, and remarkable volumes of the raw material can be found in the sheeted dyke outcrops of the Oman Ophiolite.
