Oman plans projects worth USD20 b in transport sector

(MENAFN) The Omani undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said the country’s transport sector, in the upcoming years, will have some of the largest investments it ever had in multiple mega projects, Times of Oman reported.

The undersecretary said at the Oman Projects Forum 2013: “There would be an estimated $20 billion worth of expenditure in transportation infrastructure””

The projects planned include the Oman National Railway project, four new airports, the expansion of the Muscat and Salalah airports and the Batinah Coastal Road and the Expressways.

He added that the Sultanate plans projects worth USD17 billion in oil and gas as well as USD13 billion projects in the manufacturing sector.
