(MENAFN) Oman’s Port of Salalah, a key Arab Gulf region gateway port for the Arabian Sea, is going to have French-based CMA CGM, the world’s third-largest container shipping line adding two new weekly services.
The involved services will be aimed at East Africa and Europe, plus trans-shipment will be available for CMA CGM’s Europe Pakistan India Consortium (EPIC) Service, which links ports in South Asia, the Arabian Gulf all the way to North Europe.
Additionally, the introduction of the EPIC service to the Port of Salalah provides the increasing customer base in Salalah with an additional opportunity for transporting exports to Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa.
Furthermore, the Port of Salalah, in which the Netherlands-based APM Terminals operates and holds a 30 percent share, handled 3.03 million twenty-foot equivalent units in 2014, along with 7.9 million tons of bulk cargo.
