(MENAFN) The first Sharia-compliant five-star hotel in Oman will start operation in 2014, Times of Oman reported.
Shaza Muscat Company (SMC) signed a deal with Millennium & Copthorne Hotels for the operation of the Muscat Grand Millennium Hotel.
Board member of SMC, Abdul Rahman Awadh Barham, said: “Alcohol will not be served in the hotel since it is a Sharia-compliant hotel. This is not downgrading the hotel by any means; rather it is upgrading it to a better lifestyle. It is going to be a family and business hotel.”
The USD72.5 million project will be 16 kilometers away from both the Muscat International Airport and the Central Business District.
