(MENAFN) Oman’s fish catch logged an increase of 8.4 percent in 2015 compared to 2014 numbers, as much as 225,297 tons of fish landings were registered last year.
Moreover, whole value of fish landings increased 15.1 percent to USD 479.6mn by the end of 2015, from USD 157.84mn in the previous year.
In addition, total fish landing using traditional, commercial and costal fishing grew 8.8 percent to 229,626 tons last year from 210,984 tons in 2014.
Accordingly, the Governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah registered the largest catch at 56,636 tons, making an increase of 6.8 percent.
