(MENAFN) Oman Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) plans to pump USD5 billion to USD6 billion into expanding Sohar Refinery and other projects in the following five years, Times of Oman reported.
The investment is to increase the production of Sohar Refinery by 60,000 barrels per day as well as build a USD3.6 billion plastic project and run a 280-kilometer pipeline linking Sohar with Muscat refineries.
The planned Liwa Plastics project, which comprises of six integrated components, is expected be operational by 2018. Work on the link between Sohar and Muscat is expected to commence in next year’s first quarter.
