(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi Airports Company’s (ADAC) COO, Ahmad Al Haddabi, stated that in the January-June period, the number of passengers who used Abu Dhabi International Airport jumped 22.8 percent from last year’s same period, reported Arabian Business.
Al Haddabi said that 7,050,646 passengers used the airport during the first half of the year; the highest volume of passenger traffic in the airport history ever.
Cargo shipments grew 15.7 percent, reaching 268,157 tons, mainly driven by higher cargo volumes by Etihad, Air Berlin and Lufthansa; moreover, in June alone, cargo shipments increased by 29.1 percent from a year earlier.
He added that aircraft movements during the 6-month period reached a total of 58,937 movements, representing a rise of 3.6 percent.
It is worth noting that Bangkok, Doha, Manila, London and Jeddah were the main routes from Abu Dhabi International Airport during the mentioned period.
