(MENAFN) Dubai Airports’ chief executive, Paul Griffiths, stated that the number of passengers who passed Dubai International Airport last month jumped 14.3 percent from a year ago, reported Arabian Business.

Griffiths said that in October, 4.92 million passengers traveled through the airport, whereas in the January-October period, 47.49 million passengers passed the facility, with a year-on-year increase of 13.5 percent.

Cargo volume in October rose 2.4 percent to 202,619 tons, while the figure grew by 3.6 percent in the first 10 months of the year to 1.88 million tons.

The market that posted the biggest rise in total passenger numbers in October was the GCC, followed by Western Europe, the Indian subcontinent and Asia.

It is worth noting that full-year passenger traffic is expected to reach about 57 million passengers.
