(MENAFN) Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is to make USD6 million in savings per year by switching its lighting system to a more environment friendly system, Times of Oman reported.
PDO’s Power System Department will be conducting a conversion from incandescent lights to Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs in the following two years.
Around 300,000 incandescent bulbs will be replaced with LED bulbs that consume 70 percent less energy, last 10 times longer and do not contain harmful materials.
“The use of traditional lighting products is always associated with enormous maintenance costs and requires time and labour because they need to be replaced so frequently,” the Infrastructure Power System Department Manager said.
