(MENAFN) Peace, infrastructure investment should be given priority for recovery from the negative effects of the Arab Spring that swept the MENA region in recent years.Accordingly, the IMF showed the region’s conflicts which have created daunting economic challenges as well as the refugee crisis.The region’s current conflicts slashed economic growth to such an extent that Syria’s GDP last year accounted for less than half of its pre-conflict level in 2010.However, Yemen lost almost 25-35 percent of its GDP in the same year, while in Libya the GDP declined by 24 percent in 2014 as violence picked up.
