(MENAFN) According to the Saudi Minister of Water and Electricity, Abdullah Al Hussein, mobile phone bills in the country come higher than water and electricity bill, reported Emirates 24/7.
The minister said that as the Kingdom’s electricity bills are highly subsidized, Saudis are paying much more for phone calls than they are for electricity.
The minister elaborated that phone revenues to the Kingdom total to USD18.6 billion per year, while electricity revenues sum to only USD7.8 billion.
It is worth noting that around 36 percent of Saudis pay less than USD50 per month for electricity.
