(MENAFN) Porsche Middle East and Africa managing director, George Wills, stated that the carmaker’s sales in the region in 2012 jumped by 15 percent, reaching 9,171 units, reported Gulf News.
Wills said that in December alone, Porsche regional sales hit 1,099 units.
The managing director attributed the notable growth to strong demand for the company’s Cayenne and 911 models.
The Stuttgart-based company’s sales of Cayenne climbed by 19 percent from 2011, representing over 60 percent of the automaker’s total volumes.
Meanwhile, sales of the 911 Carrera grew to 1,274 units, up from 654 units a year earlier.
Porsche, whose global sales in 2012 increased by 18.7 percent to 141,075 units, introduced the new-generation Boxster in the year, with the model’s sales reaching 227 units.
It is worth noting that later in the month, Porsche will reveal the new Cayenne Turbo S, which offers 550 hp, ranking at the top of the company’s SUV model range.
