Qatar Airways plans to place Bombardier jet order

13 Apr 2012

(MENAFN) Qatar Airways CEO, Akbar Al Baker, said that the carrier would soon place a large order for Bombardier business jets, reported Arabian Business.

Al Baker, who declined to specify the size of the order, added that the airline’s business-jet unit, Qatar Executive, flies 6 Bombardier business jets, including 3 Global 5000 models and 3 Challenger 605s.

Bombardier’s CEO, Pierre Beaudoin, said that the Montreal-based plane maker is developing the CSeries narrow-body jet to compete with the smallest commercial planes produced by Boeing and Airbus.

It is worth noting that last month Qatar Airways said that it delayed plans to acquire Bombardier’s CSeries narrow-body aircraft, and will consider a purchase later.
